10 Real Ways to Save Money on Your Move

Moves in Cyprus can cost anywhere from €60 to €1,500. The difference is rarely the company — it's how you prepare. Here are 10 things that actually move the price.

011–3. Reduce volume

Sell, donate or dump before you pack. Every cubic meter you don't move saves you roughly €25–€40.

  • List heavy items on Bazaraki a month early
  • Donate clothes & books to local charity shops
  • Use the municipality's free bulk-waste pickup

024. Move mid-week, mid-month

Friday + end-of-month is peak. Tuesday or Wednesday in the middle of the month is often 15–25% cheaper.

035. Pack yourself, but pack well

Packing labour is usually 20–30% of the total. Doing it yourself is the single biggest saving — IF your boxes are tight and labelled. Loose boxes slow movers down and cost you anyway.

046. Use what you already own

Suitcases for clothes, laundry baskets for shoes, towels as padding. Free, and you'd be moving them anyway.

057. Get a fixed price, not hourly

Hourly looks cheap on the quote and expensive on the invoice. Always ask: 'What's the worst-case total?'

068. Disassemble furniture in advance

Beds, wardrobes and tables broken down before the team arrives can save 30–60 minutes of paid time.

079. Reserve parking

Carrying a sofa an extra 40 m adds real time. In old-town Paphos or Limassol seafront, place cones or your car the night before.

0810. Combine with clearance

Many local movers (us included) offer move + clearance in one trip. Cheaper than booking two services.

Key takeaway

You can't really negotiate the truck cost — but you can absolutely shrink the job. Less volume, better timing, fixed price.
