The 4-Week Moving Checklist for Cyprus

Most people underestimate how long a smooth move really takes. Use this proven 4-week timeline used by hundreds of customers in Paphos and Limassol — and arrive on moving day calm, organised, and on budget.

014 weeks before — plan & sort

Walk through every room and decide what stays, what gets sold, and what gets discarded. The less you move, the less you pay.

  • Inventory each room with your phone camera
  • Get 2–3 written quotes (always insist on a fixed price)
  • Book your moving date — Friday & end-of-month slots fill first
  • Notify landlord in writing if you rent

023 weeks before — paperwork

Cyprus utilities require a few days to switch. Doing this early avoids arriving at a dark new home.

  • Transfer EAC electricity contract
  • Schedule CYTA / Cablenet internet move (book 10+ days ahead)
  • Update your address with bank, GeSY and insurance
  • Arrange school / kindergarten transfer if needed

032 weeks before — pack non-essentials

Start with books, off-season clothes, decor and the spare bedroom. Label every box on TWO sides with room + content.

041 week before — final prep

Defrost the freezer 24 h before, finish the kitchen pack last, and prepare a clearly marked 'first night' box: phone chargers, kettle, coffee, bedding, basic tools, toilet paper.

05Moving day

Be on site 30 minutes before the team arrives. Show them the heaviest items first, point out fragile boxes, and reserve a parking spot — in Paphos and Limassol old town this can save you an hour of carrying.

Key takeaway

A move is 80% planning and 20% lifting. Start 4 weeks out and the actual day becomes the easy part.
