Moving with Pets in Cyprus — Calm Cats, Happy Dogs

Pets read your stress better than any human. A calm move = a calm pet. Here's how to do it right in the Cyprus heat.

011 week before — vet & ID

Update microchip address, refill medication, and ask your vet about a mild calming spray (Feliway for cats, Adaptil for dogs) — they genuinely work.

02Moving day — separate room

Put your pet in one empty room with food, water, litter and a closed door. Tape a big sign: DO NOT OPEN. Movers run in and out — every open door is an escape risk, especially in a new neighbourhood.

03Transport in the heat

Never leave a pet in a parked car in Cyprus — even 10 minutes at 30°C is dangerous. Transport in your own car, A/C on, water available, and the carrier secured with a seatbelt.

04First 48 h in the new home

Set up one 'safe room' first with familiar bedding, toys and the litter box. Let cats explore at their own pace (usually 2–4 days). Walk dogs on a short leash for the first week — they don't yet know the way home.

Key takeaway

Quiet room, secured carrier, familiar smells. The rest sorts itself out within a week.
