Fixed Price vs Hourly Movers — Which Is Really Cheaper?

Almost every moving complaint on Cyprus starts the same way: 'They quoted me €40/hour and charged me €380'. Fixed price exists for exactly this reason.

01How hourly really works

Clock starts when the van leaves the depot, not when it arrives. Lunch breaks, traffic, parking searches, slow lifts — all on your meter.

02How fixed price works

We look at photos or a video walkthrough, count boxes and furniture, factor in floor + lift + distance, and quote ONE number. Slow lift? Our problem, not yours.

03When hourly is genuinely cheaper

Tiny studio, ground floor to ground floor, under 10 boxes, no furniture. Honestly — for that, hourly can win.

04When fixed price wins (95% of moves)

Anything with stairs, a lift, multiple rooms, furniture or appliances. Fixed price kills the time-pressure mistakes and almost always ends up cheaper.

05The one question to always ask

'What is the worst-case total I will see on the invoice?' If the answer is 'depends', insist on a fixed price or move on.

Key takeaway

Ask for the worst-case total. If they cannot give one, you are about to overpay.
