Expat Moving Checklist — Arriving in Cyprus from Abroad

Moving to Cyprus from the UK, Germany, Russia, Israel or anywhere else? This is the order things actually need to happen — based on what trips up newcomers most.

01Before you fly

Paperwork-wise, the first 30 days decide whether your relocation feels easy or painful.

  • Apartment confirmed (sign a rental contract — needed for almost everything)
  • Passport copies + birth/marriage certificates apostilled
  • Pet documentation (microchip, rabies titre, EU pet passport if applicable)
  • International driving permit if your licence is non-EU

02First week in Cyprus

Register an address, apply for yellow slip / MEU3 at the local migration office, open a bank account (Bank of Cyprus or Hellenic), get a Cyprus SIM (CYTA / Epic / Primetel).

03Utilities

EAC (electricity) → water (municipality) → CYTA / Cablenet (internet, 5–10 working days). Start all three on day one if possible.

04Healthcare — GeSY

Register for GeSY as soon as you have your yellow slip. Pick a personal doctor (PD) immediately — it unlocks prescriptions, specialists and hospitals.

05The actual move

Pick a mover that speaks your language and quotes a fixed price. We are exactly that — message us with your move date and address and we sort the rest.

Key takeaway

Rental contract → yellow slip → bank → GeSY → utilities → move. In that order, life on Cyprus starts smooth.
